Carisma Maltese Limited Health Guarantee

Breeder certifies that to the best of her knowledge, this puppy is in good health at the time of sale and every reasonable precaution has been taken to prevent this puppy from acquiring any life-threatening congenital or genetic disease. The puppy is being sold “as is” and any/all known faults (if applicable) have been explained to the Buyer. Seller does not guarantee against communicable diseases beyond 48 hours of Buyer receiving puppy.

This puppy is of typical structure, temperament and embodies the basic AKC standards of the Maltese breed. The puppy will be given AKC or ACA limited registration application to be completed and submitted by the new owner once proof of spay/neuter procedure has been provided to breeder. Puppy will be neutered or spayed by the time the puppy is 8-10 months old, but not before it is 6 months old. Buyer agrees this puppy will not be used for breeding to any Maltese or any other breed of dog. Puppy will not be registered with any other registry unless specified by the Buyer. Buyer has 72 hours (3 days) to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian. If any life threatening problems are found at the time of examination, the puppy must be returned immediately at Buyer’s expense. If the puppy is found to have a congenital or hereditary defect or condition which is life threatening or would seriously effect the puppy’s quality of life, Buyer may return the puppy for a replacement puppy as soon as one is available.

Buyer must provide a written report from the examining veterinarian stating the condition is life-threatening and congenital within the 72 hour time frame for the guarantee to be valid. The guarantee covers “life-threatening” congenital health defects, which were acquired during the prenatal stage, up to the age of 6 months. Documentation and test results must be sent to breeder by registered mail. Two unassociated veterinarian’s reports are required stating the condition and it must be confirmed by breeder’s veterinarian. Report must state that the condition is congenital and was acquired in the prenatal stage of life.

The puppy will be re-examined by our vets and if a life-threatening condition is confirmed by them, a replacement puppy will be offered as soon as one is available subject to the following conditions:

(1) There will be no refund of the purchase price of the puppy, this is a replacement guarantee only.

(2) Buyer must notify Seller by 12 months of age and Buyer will provide Seller with complete documentation of the

inherited genetic condition.

(3) After 2 veterinarians of Seller’s choice agree that the condition will lead to poor quality of life, the puppy must not have been bred if female or sired a liter of puppies if male.

(4) All paperwork and medical records will be returned to Seller including registration papers.

All veterinarian costs are the responsibility of the Buyer. No veterinary or medical expenses will be reimbursed by the Seller at any time. Seller does not guarantee against non-threatening puppy issues such as hernias, missing or misaligned teeth, undescended testicles, luxating or loose patellas, or any type of parasites such as coccidiosis or giardia. We do not guarantee adult size, weight, color, temperament, misaligned teeth, open fontanels, ear infections, diarrhea, skin allergies, food allergies, vaccine reactions, malnutrition or hypoglycemia. Under no circumstances will Seller be responsible for or pay any veterinary bills incurred with the Buyer’s puppy once Buyer has taken possession of puppy.

All puppies are sold with a one year health guarantee against life threatening conditions. If the puppy is found to have a heart murmur or liver shunt before the age of 6 months, breeder reserves the right to offer a replacement puppy as soon as one is available and the original puppy has been returned to breeder at Buyer’s expense. If Buyer elects not to return the puppy, then it is agreed that any and all costs of medical treatment are the responsibility of the Buyer.

Breeder is not responsible for any veterinarian charges or fees in diagnosing or treating any illness or genetic disease. Breeder is not responsible for any charges incurred in returning or replacing the dog. The replacement will be selected by the breeder and breeder has a period of up to 1 year to make this replacement, as puppies are not available at all times. Transportation for the replacement puppy shall be at Buyer’s expense. There will be no refunds, only replacement based on availability.

As the Seller, I will guarantee your puppy against life threatening, genetic disease for 1 year from date of purchase. I guarantee for 48 hours against Parvo virus and Distemper. Your puppy has received a series of 3 combination vaccines which will offer immunity against Parvo, Distemper, Adenovirus 1 and 2 and Hepatitis. We recommend waiting until the age of 4-5 months before getting the rabies vaccine, and please do not ever get the rabies vaccine at the same time as any other vaccine booster. It needs to be done at a separate time and wait at least 2 weeks before getting any other vaccines. Your puppy has been given de-worming medication several times to insure he has no parasites. Your veterinarian can set up a schedule for maintenance of necessary vaccines. A yearly booster of the combination vaccine, DHPP (no corona virus or leptospirosis shot) and then a separate rabies. Most vet hospitals now offer a 3-year rabies, which as it’s name implies, is only given every 3 years. If you let the hospital give several vaccinations on the same day, your puppy may end up very ill and not want to eat. It’s better to tell them you will come back in 2 weeks for the rabies shot or any other vaccine, than to risk a serious complication. It’s not worth the risk, you could end up at the emergency room. This is our recommendation, if you go along with another protocol and you have problems, we are not responsible. Vacicnosis is real and it is serious, more so for toy breed dogs. The doctors like to give them all kinds of shots all at once, but you have the option of stating your choice for your puppy. This dog shall receive proper veterinary care throughout its lifetime, receive appropriate vaccinations and placed on heart worm preventative. It is strongly recommended that the Buyer avoid any unnecessary vaccinations. We do not recommend getting the Lepto or Corona vaccine. It has made many toy dogs seriously ill. Never get more than one vaccine per office visit. Space the vaccinations at least 2 weeks apart. The dog shall receive proper nutrition and care should be taken to maintain its proper weight.

The puppy is to be an indoor pet and under no circumstances kept outdoors.

Buyer is not entitled to a replacement if any conditions are found resulting from neglect, mistreatment or accident.

Failure to provide proper care and/or obtain medical treatment for the puppy when necessary, will result in repossession of the puppy and all paperwork will be signed back over to and returned to the Breeder. If death should occur, an autopsy shall be performed at Buyer’s expense and results mailed by registered mail to breeder. Regular vet checks are required and the puppy must be kept up to date on all vaccination and monthly heart worm preventative. Buyer must adhere to recommended diet and provide proper care and housing for the puppy. Any deviation from the recommended diet voids this health guarantee. All veterinarian fees and charges, including but not limited to diagnostic testing, boarding, medications, surgeries and other treatments are the full responsibility of the Buyer.

I have read and agree to the conditions of this health guarantee:
